Wings of Remembrance Retreat
May 15–18, 2026 | Rivendell Retreat Centre | Bowen Island, BC
Arrival May 15th 3pm - Departure May 18th at noon
This Event is for those who have experienced TFMR, Stillbirth or infant loss
For years, Butterfly Support Network has carried the vision of creating a dedicated retreat space in British Columbia for parents grieving the loss of a baby. The Wings of Remembrance Retreat is the realization of that dream. A meaningful extension of Butterfly Support Network’s mission to walk alongside bereaved families with compassion, care, and community.
Set within the natural beauty of Bowen Island, this four-day retreat offers a safe, supportive environment for parents to honour their babies, tend to their grief, and connect with others who truly understand. Rooted in care for the body, mind, and spirit, the weekend gently invites rest, reflection, and renewal through therapeutic workshops, creative healing arts, memorial activities, and spacious time in nature.
Guided by grief educator Alanna Knobben, the retreat blends evidence-informed grief support with creative and reflective practices that honour both individual and shared experiences. Participants are invited into group support, mindfulness, writing, music, and quiet moments—allowing each person to engage in ways that feel most supportive to their own journey.
Nourishing meals, thoughtfully prepared by Chef Marika and designed to accommodate a variety of dietary needs, are an integral part of the retreat experience. Time is also intentionally woven in to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Rivendell Retreat Centre, along with meaningful moments of connection, special guests, and gentle offerings along the way.
While this retreat can be emotionally tender, it is also deeply nourishing, supporting parents in continuing to parent their child beyond loss, engaging in legacy-building, self-exploration, and building community with others walking a similar path.
Cost to join - $150 donation or refundable deposit
A Gentle Note on Readiness
This retreat is intended as a shared healing space where stories are both held and witnessed. Participants are encouraged to consider where they are in their grief journey and whether engaging in a group setting feels supportive at this time. We suggest it has been 6 months or more since the time of your loss to join in this group setting.
* Rivendell Retreat Centre is a faith based retreat centre, but Butterfly Support Network is not affiliated with any religion & we welcome participants of any background, faith or belief system. No religious based activities will be included as part of the Wings of Remembrance retreat. *
